Fr. Dan Mauro is one of the newest priests in the Archdiocese, ordained on May 24, 2025, alongside two classmates. Holy Trinity is his first assignment, and he also serves as the chaplain at St. James Academy High School.
A native of Overland Park, Fr. Mauro received his sacraments and attended school at Holy Spirit. He is a proud alumnus of St. James Academy and is excited to return as chaplain. His assignment at Holy Trinity is also a homecoming—he was active in the LifeTeen program here during high school and looks forward to supporting the ministry once again.
After graduating from St. James in 2016, Fr. Mauro began studying Biology and Philosophy at Benedictine College with plans to become a doctor. However, during his first year, he discerned a call to the priesthood and entered seminary in the fall of 2017.
He completed his seminary formation at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis, graduating in 2020 from Cardinal Glennon College (through St. Louis University) with a double major in Philosophy and Classical Humanities. During his theological studies, Fr. Mauro also learned Spanish, spending summers in Avila, Spain, and Queretaro, Mexico. He has served in several parishes with Hispanic communities and, while he will miss that work, he’s also grateful for more opportunities to preach in his first language.
Fr. Mauro’s theological thesis focused on Sacred Scripture. He has a deep love for reading the saints, especially the Carmelites—St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. He looks forward to sharing his passion for God’s Word and the saints through his priestly ministry.
